Jimmy Keene, also known as James "Jimmy" Sweeney, is a former criminal-turned-informant who is known for his involvement in several high-profile crimes and subsequent cooperation with law enforcement. Keene was once a member of the Outfit, a Chicago-based organized crime syndicate, and was involved in numerous criminal activities, including drug trafficking, extortion, and murder.
In 1998, Keene was arrested for his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot and faced life in prison. To reduce his sentence, Keene agreed to cooperate with law enforcement and became a key informant in several high-profile cases, including the prosecution of Outfit bosses and other top criminals.
Keene's cooperation with law enforcement led to the arrests and convictions of several high-ranking members of the Outfit, including reputed mob boss James Marcello. His testimony helped to dismantle the criminal organization and bring an end to its reign of terror in Chicago.
Keene has since written a memoir, titled "A Mob Story", in which he details his life of crime and his decision to become an informant. He now speaks publicly about his experiences and the consequences of his criminal past, serving as a cautionary tale for others who may be tempted to follow a similar path.
